The touch analysis is able to create DNA profiles from samples smaller than a pinhead, and has been refined over the years, officials said.

Crime scene DNA is typically recovered from blood or semen stains.
This so-called touch DNA is left behind when people touch things, because they naturally shed skin cells that contain the genetic material. To find such DNA, you have to have a good idea of where someone has been touched, or in this case, where you think the suspect would have touched. That somebody pulling down her pants would have touched the waistband and the sides. |

What I don't understand is this; They (the police) were supposed to have checked any dna that was left, and to this there was no match. After all these years this one monster who committed this crime has committed no other crimes? Nothing to compare his dna to? I find that hard to believe. That horrific of a crime to be just one time.
Now, with this new Touch DNA are they going to test again with this new technology? Read on Touch DNA www.wusa9.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=73827&catid=158 Here's hoping one day the Prior family will get justice. |

I truly believe that this will all come to an end soon...we all have to work together as a once community(even though we we are seperated in distance) we all know that this,in our our heart & minds(sometnig that noone will ever forget or want too)troubles our thoughts. Everyone wants to have closure(not as much as the Prior family)but we have to work together as a close nit family like we used to do. Please, remember your roots(as we use to be)all for one, and one for all.....I know we can do this together & help have closure for the Prior family..luv ya all xxx

Hello, I just read the story and I am so sorry for your troubles. You are not alone I hope you have found some kind of support with some organization. I myself have a son who went missing at 17 he has never been found or heard from again. He is now 40 years old but until someone can show me a body I will never loose faith. I know one day we will meet again. It is very different when you have seen the body but at least you have closure. Once again you are not alone God bless your family

I have just read the article on the blog page about Beverly Lynn Smith?s murder case being solved after 33 years (and the touching comment from her daughter Rebecca). It is heartening and encouraging to hear when such a crime is solved. Perhaps it is not so heartening for other perpetrator?s out there who have thus far escaped justice and may feel protected by time. The Beverly Lynn Smith case is proof that time is no protection at all, and that there is no such thing as a cold case. To the contrary, time and persistence are the things that finally brought Beverly Lynn Smith?s murderer to justice and I am sure that Sharron?s case will be no different. Time and persistence are causing a growing number of people to take an interest in Sharron?s case, both publicly and privately, including a crime writer and a (former) FBI Special Agent, no less! (Check out this link
http://www.truecrimediary.com/home/2008/03/sharrons_story_2.html or the blog entry on Sharron's site for the 29th of March). Little by little, interest in Sharron?s case is growing, the information continues to come in, and the pieces will come together. The human mind is an amazing thing. Sometimes seemingly insignificant and forgotten memories can suddenly be recalled in clear detail ? it just takes the right key to unlock the hidden memory. The increasing profile and talk about Sharron?s case will hopefully soon provide a key to some of those hidden memories, prompting a person, or people, to come forward and say I remember!. It is single snowflakes that eventually cause avalanches. The more memory snowflakes that fall on Sharron?s case, the greater the likelihood of the avalanche happening that will break this case open. In time, sooner or later, the break will come. How wonderful it would be if that break would come before another real snowflake falls on Sharron?s grave! I have no doubt that at least one person out there has the power to make that happen, and in time it WILL happen. The passing of time should provide no comfort to the perpetrator of Sharron?s death. Nor should time be a comfort to anyone who may know something significant about Sharron?s case but has not yet come forward ? perhaps someone who has been trying to forget rather than to remember. As time progresses, the likelihood increases that ANOTHER person?s memory or conscience will lead them to come forward with some key evidence that they too have carried with them for a long time. So if I was such a person, holding onto my secret, my dilemma would be; Shall I be the one to come forward? Shall I be the one to provide the information that at last brings the Prior family the overdue closure to the loss of their beautiful daughter and sister? Or shall I keep this secret to myself, and just hope that no-one else who also carries this secret is led by their conscience to come forward before me? Shall I just hope that the case is never solved so that I never have to feel the shame and disgrace of fingers pointing at me and people saying You knew ? but you said NOTHING! ? |

The Montreal Police re opened the case for a while. The spread the word at a few bars that they would like to talk to me about it. I phoned the Detective and explained to him that I was 12 years old when that happened..he said that a retired homacide detective had said that I was a good guy and that I had changed my ways and was in some movement (I became Christian) He said I was around the criminal element and I might have heard something in later years. (seemed stupid reasoning to me) I told the man about a man who was now deceased, he seemed let down. A few days later I metdeceased suspects daughter out of sheer coincidence. I told her about it and she said members of the family also suspected him, I asked if she would give a DNA sample to help give closure to the family. She agreed. I phoned the cop back and he told me it couldent be done from the daughter?I was watching Cold Case Files a week later and learned of a thing called Stripping, where they could take the DNA of an ofspring and strip the Mothers DNA and find the DNA of the father...And that Program was a repeat...So faith in the Police I have not.

I have, over the past 27 years of my life heard my Mom time and time again speak of Sharron and this horrible crime. I sincerely hope that one day the animal that is responsible for the horrific death of this beautiful young girl is punished for his crimes. I take comfort in knowing that truely what goes around comes around, even if he is never caught and prosicuted, he will suffer greatly for his actions some way some how. Regardless if an arrest is made, justice will be served in one way or another. My thoughts go out to the Prior family, thank you for exhibiting amazing strength in creating this website in memory of this amazing young soul.

Hi Moreen and Doreen,
I went to Verdun High with both of you, I came to Canada in February 1975. Sharon was in the same class with my sister. When I heard of Sharon disappearance I wanted to move back to my Country right away, I think of you all often as someone who works with me has the same last name but no connection to you as I already asked him, for some reason tonight I wanted to know if the killer was ever found and I came across this site, it is beautiful. My thoughts will always be with your family. Keep the faith. June |

Lisa,
I'm glad I'm not an old person or the less fortunate,I would'nt want your help at all?30 years is not too long & for your info.the Prior family does not Mope around,if anything they live their lives to the fullest. I've never met a more loving & caring family before. A CYBER SHRINE you call it, I call it a family who wants to see Sharron's killer brought to justice by any means...KEEP your IGNORANT remarks to yourself, nobody wants to read them. Your heartless & obviously not very smart( to make a remark like that). One day justice will be brought,Moreen, Doreen, JoJo & Yvonne, you know that we are all with you and always will be....luv ya lots xxxxx |

Hello Robert Hennecke,
Thank you for your input concerning Sharrons case and also for the hand drawn maps. Yes, we as a family have believed that the perpetrator who attacked Cheryl Roy could possibly be the same person who abducted and murdered Sharron. As for the candy factory we think that it was completly gutted or even torn down to build the rooming house.???? Honey/candy-----now thats food for thought. |

I tried my best to give my assesment. Mrs. prior showed me the article of the alternate attack and the description and it just jumped out at me that the probability of another woman being attacked within 15-30 minutes in the point within such a close proximity to her objective made it extremely likely that this was the perpetrator. ALso--- I have to mention again that at the time what is now a rooming house was a candy factory at the time and would have provided 3 days of seclusion in a relatively sound proof structure compared to the garage to anyone who may have been an employee of that company and had a key. This building was behind the corner store on Wellington and right across the street on ash from the pizzeria (then it was) which is precisely where the other woman was almost grabbed. Although the informant claims the garage is at issue---would the lane have been cleared of snow to allow a car through. I am convinced that if the police tried what they did at the garage but instead at the former candy factory they may yield results. My last point is grasping--- but here goes--- she was left at a honey bee farm and the lock had been opened with a key----could there be a connection to the candy factory....
